The Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called for an extra-ordinary session of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) to discuss the recent insult to the sanctities of more than two billion Muslims. During this session, held on 31 July 2023, the Islamic Republic of Iran proposed that the OIC send a delegation to Sweden and Denmark as well as the European Union for a dialogue to ensure that Islamic sanctities are not insulted again. The Islamic Republic of Iran also asked the OIC Secretary General to immediately appoint an OIC special envoy for Islamophobia affairs.
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Athens, while categorically condemning repeated insult to the Holy Quran, calls for the adoption of new laws in the European Union in order to criminalize any insult to divine religions especially to Muslim sanctities; the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Athens also calls for immediate talks and dialogue among religions to help establish religious peace and tranquility. It is the collective responsibility and obligation of the followers of divine religions to prevent insult to sanctities and help spread tolerance and peaceful co-existence across the world.
